Covid-19 changes
How will things work when you book a treatment?
In order to keep clients and myself safe, I'm limiting face-to-face contact time in line with government and industry guidance. To help with this I'm now using secure online forms when possible, rather than paper ones. When you book a treatment I'll send you out a Covid-19 screening form to complete and will then contact you ahead of the session to discuss what you've put. This means we can retain the maximum amount of face-to-face time for massage work, whilst still completing all checks and consultation needed in line with government and industry guidance.
What you need to bring with you to your treatment session
What I'll be wearing for the treatment session
A plastic visor; a fluid-resistant mask; disposable plastic apron in a rather fetching mid-blue or disappointing grey-white (depending on stock). For Pregnancy massages I'll also be wearing nitrile gloves in a lovely shade of blue.
The process:
Ahead of your treatment session
I will contact you a few days ahead of your session, to run through your Covid-19 screening questions, and to confirm that you are ok to attend your session.
On the day of your treatment session
Safety and cleaning
As you can imagine, there will be a fair bit of additional cleaning going on!
Your feedback
I’ve conducted risk assessments for everything involved, which inform the cleaning routines and various processes I’ve put in place, and I’ve tested everything with a selection of willing (bribed) guinea-pigs to ensure things work ok. However, there is always room for improvement so please let me know if you spot anything that could be improved or that I’ve missed – all feedback is gratefully received!

On the day of your treatment session
- On the morning of your appointment please take your temperature. If your temperature is above 37.7 degrees C or you feel unwell then please give me a call and we’ll discuss whether to reschedule your treatment.
- I will be taking my temperature each morning, and will alert you if I have a raised temperature or feel unwell.
- Please arrive on time for your appointment (ie not early or late), as this will help with managing the flow of people entering and leaving the building.
- Please come in through the front door of Elm Nook House and use the intercom to let me know that you have arrived. I'll come to let you in.
- The door to the treatment room will be open so that you can go straight in. Please use the hand sanitiser provided.
- If we need to complete any movement assessments ahead of the treatment then I’ll come into the room to conduct them, then I’ll leave you to get changed and onto the couch. There will be a large plastic container with a lid for you to pop your belongings into.
- When you’re ready, I’ll come in and we’ll proceed with your treatment.
- At the end of the session, I’ll leave you to get dressed and will wait for you outside the room.
- When you leave the room, please again use the hand sanitiser just outside the room.
- I’ll open the front door to let you out without you having to touch anything.
Safety and cleaning
As you can imagine, there will be a fair bit of additional cleaning going on!
- I’ll be cleaning my treatment room even more thoroughly than before, at the start and end of my working day, as well as between each client.
- I’ll be regularly cleaning areas in the communal spaces that you might come into contact with, including the toilet areas.
- Towels and cloths used for a session will be stored in a sealed plastic container, ready for me to launder.
- A window will be open during sessions (sorry!) for ventilation, and there will be a minimum of 30mins between treatments to ensure time for good ventilation of the room.
- The heated underblanket is back on the bed (woohoo!) under a washable and wipeable cover; there are also plenty of towels to keep you warm during your treatment.
